Summer days along the River Murray
Sometimes hot and humid; sometimes hot and dry
Huge long lines of cars
Waiting to cross the ferry
At Kingston-on-Murray!
Laurie Hopkins had the right idea
Had a little refreshment van
Parked close to the river
He sold cool drinks for thirsty travellers
Packets of potato chips
All sorts of yummy stuff!
I'd ask my mum if I could go
Buy something cooling for us
For me and for my brother as well!
I loved those Slippery Sams
Little flavoured ices
Cooling in that hot summer
As we cut those ripe apricots
At Harrington's on the River Murray
