Sunset

I love to walk outside and see the way
When day is done and time goes by
The time draws near and sun does fly
The world does turn and say goodbye
To another wonderful God-given day!
When I watch the clouds as they change
From brilliant white to dusky grey
The beauteous paling is again in sway
As roses touch upon the grey
And indigo patches fade away
Just passing into darkened sky
The new bright stars ablaze
Give us welcome to this glorious night!
Near this little town when darkness comes
The heavens unfold a beauteous sight
As the city lights, they fade away
And only God's sky is seen there
The myriad sparkling little stars
The shining spots amid the black
Like silver jewels on ebony
Brilliant in their shining glory
The Milky Way, Dippers large and small
I see it all; the Southern Cross
Displayed in God's great majesty!
What tiny little things are we?
To think that we could ever be?
Alone in appreciating God's bounty?
Why would God in all His might?
Only gift to us  this rare sight?
Surely in the heavens up above
There are those who also love
To look upon these stars so bright
And wonder at His all-encompassing might!
