Proved By Fire

As the potter shapes the clay
Moulds and smooths and holds
Pliable within His strong hands
So the shape it undertakes
Is guided and produced
It grows and then sometimes
It even breaks
So it starts again.
As the carpenter cuts the wood
After it is aged
That is understood
Then with careful hands
And various tools
It becomes a useful piece
A beauty to behold.
As the gardener takes the seed
Sows it into the ground
And pulls the weeds
Waters its delicate roots
Fertilises and sees it shoot
The plant matures, bears fruit.
So it is with our dear Lord
He is the potter at His seat
He is the carpenter with His tools
He is the gardener with His seeds
He is the kiln that all within
Is heated and tested and then
When the fire is reduced
He sees what He's produced!
