Many long years ago
For Shelley's Birthday
She wanted to camp outside
Though it was cold: winter time
I said okay and made the grade
The old water tank was the place
Where we set up camp: oh what grace
I got some canvas: made the roof
It had to be weather proof
Tied it to some heavy lead weights
Anchored it down to make it secure
Then we got an extension cord
A lamp: a necessity: the night to endure...
We even had a pretend camp fire
Gathered many quilts and blankets too
Piled them all up and just "made do"
It looked really cool I'm telling you
The two girls got to sleep outside
Warm as toast not one bit exposed
Shelley and April had the time of their lives!
