Where there is need

Canada during a cold, cold winter time
Widowed Mrs Connor with 5 children
Alone: no father to look after them
Used all her money keeping her family warm
No money left for food: empty larder: understood
6 slices of bread for dinner; that's it!
Next morning hunger reared its ugly head
Cupboards bare, mother crying in despair
Teddy wanted to cry too but needed to be big
He needed to be strong for her...for them all
Said he would write a letter to Jesus it's true
Used an old school book that was lying there
This is how the letter began...
"Dear Jesus
Last night we only had a slice of bread
This morning there is nothing left...
Please help us..."
Signed Teddy

The post man found a letter
Addressed to Jesus Christ
What was he supposed to do?
Opened it up to look inside...
Poor Mrs Connor...
His heart cried...

Just then: a business man
Walked into that post office
"I'll take care of that!" he cried

He got a great big box its true
Filled it up with heaps of food
Took it to their door step and
As he was tiptoeing away
He heard a little voice say...
"Are you Jesus?"

Every day he left another box of food...

Jesus answered that prayer
Because He knew there was a need...

God will answer your prayer...
He knows your needs...
He used somebody to answer that prayer...

Just like he answered my prayer
A few short years ago...
When Rose S brought us
A Christmas Hamper to see us through...
Thank you Lord for answering my prayers...
Each and every day that I bend my knee
And leave everything I need...to Thee
