Charity begins at home

They say that charity begins at home
But it doesn't seem to be the case
When governments give overseas
And yet: so many still live in the streets
Charities cannot afford to pay collectors
So they promise them a percentage
Yes: they give of that money that is collected...
These volunteers have their own agenda
To get as much as they can get
Stuff it in their pockets: imagine it!
They rake in about half of what is given...

Only through Charities Direct is it above board
They give one hundred percent as collected

The rest: well they just take as much as they can
They mostly stick to this plan:
Ten to fifty percent for administration...
Twenty percent for medical research...
Twenty percent for programmes...
Fifty to ten percent for advertisement...
So: what ever is left after all that?
Is given to those in need: indeed!
It is never enough to help the needy
Only enough to partly satisfy the greedy
