In too deep!

We had a lovely trip to visit
My best friend Martha in Dubbo
Melissa was the eldest at 8
Vanessa was just a child of 6
Shelley was even smaller at 2 and
Martha was pregnant with Nicole!
Martha's in-laws had
A nice cool swimming pool!
It was very hot that summer's day
We were all very happy to cool off!
I watched as Melissa jumped in and
Vanessa following suit
Forgetting that she couldn't swim
Down the deep end!
That picture of her face
Is still deeply etched in place
As I remember rushing up and 
Grabbing her extended arm
As she tried so desperately
To save herself!
Her eyes wide with terror
As she recognised her error
Will ever be etched in my memory!
