One green shoe

My little son disappeared one day
I couldn't find him though 
I called and called for a while
As I ran around searching and searching!
I finally saw our new German shepherd
On the other side of the home paddock
I was so thankful for that good dog
He stayed right by my son's side
Showing me just where to find him!
I am happy to say Michael was okay
Though he'd lost one green shoe
I just could not find it!

Many years have passed by and 
With a tear in my eye I found
A little treasure whilst walking
It's been many years
There have been droughts
And even a quite a few deluges!
I found the soul of a tiny little shoe
The green leather was gone
But that soul was still blue and
I smiled as I recognised it!
