Compensation

I often wonder if it is true. Can it really be?
That you feel you are owed a living for your loss?
At what cost: this hateful visage I see looking at me
Your anger flares: you see red: you blaze up anon
You deserve so much for what you have lost!
True: but honey what about the pros for all your cons
Shouldn't there be a balance: where all is weighed?
Shouldn't there be some compensation for the pain?
How to measure up what is right & what is wrong?
How to ensure that justice has been met: & yet
What about those who suffered along with you?
What about those loved ones who hurt with you?
Those nearest & dearest who suffered for your hurt
You weren't the only one to suffer all that hurt & pain!
Your family suffered along with you: we all were hurt
We all were passengers on that endless train
Going nowhere for so very long: forced to watch
As tempers flared & words spewed out
Sometimes even caught in the firing lines
No way out for little children caught up in it all
Watching all that anger pour forth into the breech
Hearing the pain of voices raises: unnecessary speech!
Yes we all were passengers upon that train of pain
We all deserve to get something in return
For all that suffering: for all that pain! Yes! Again & again!
