Five bridges

There's a new Northern express way
It is so quick to travel to the city of Adelaide
Five bridges form the Gawler bypass
To commemorate all our fallen soldiers
Long Tan in Vietnam in 1966 (Vietnam War)
Kapyong in Korea in 1952 (Korean War)
Kokoda in Papua New Guinea in 1942 (WW1)
Tobruk in Africa in 1941 (WW2)
Hamel in France in 1918 (WW1)
A little part of history each time I drive along
Reminding me of times so long ago!
How many young men did we lose along the way?
Was it really worth it that they went away?
How can we possibly entertain the thought today
Of sending our young men to fight again?
Have we learned nothing yet to make us see?
That these wars are not for you & me!
