Sharing the load

How different life is today
Where have we gone astray?
Grandparents used to live
With their children; had so much to give!
Now childcare centres are the norm
What about keeping up the form?
Families are pushed aside
Governments want us all to decide
To follow their rules and live our lives
As they would have us think to decide!
They want young mums to work their share
While really they should be at home
Giving their loving care
To little children and their needs!
Sometimes it feels so useless
To struggle so hard
To hardly make ends meet
So many living in the streets!
So many losing all hope
What to do when it all falls apart?
God bless those who help a bit
Giving hugs and tenderness
When so many couldn't even care less!
What is this world coming to?
When love and friendliness
Are considered too hard to do!
Share the load this Christmas
Give a smile; make a friend!
It doesn't cost an arm and a leg
To smile a little and give a bit
Just look around and see the smiles
You can put on people's dials!
You'll see; It's all worthwhile!
