Pick up the pieces

Over the years it's been the same
Whenever this life becomes a pain
When troubles come: such a shame
Everybody likes to lay the blame

She falls apart when troubles come
She feels that inside there is no sun
Runs a mile: escapes her life: humdrum
Travels far away: lives for another day
Picks up the pieces: is on her way again

Her search for love is long and drawn
Each precious new day: she awaits the dawn
She dreams of him: can't see his face
But she knows one day: he'll come apace

She falls apart when troubles come
Yet deep inside she feels some sun
Though she runs away: she returns anon
Travels far and wide in search of one
Picks up those pieces: carries on

Now her life is changing once again
Her children grown: her husband gone
A new day dawns: she's looking round
Sensing love that must come along

She falls apart when troubles come
Yet she knows that love's not gone
It's only hidden: within the clouds
She knows that time has finally come
To pick up the pieces: welcome him
