It's the middle of the night
Can't sleep: something's not right
It's just too hot to sleep tight
Wish it was cooler: all right!
Babies are sleeping fitfully
Little bodies lying naked: sprawled
No sheet needed to cover them tonight
The fan is blowing air around
That' the only little sound: nothing else!
I go outside to see the stars
All is well in the world tonight
Well it is in my little piece of it
This is all I know of in my life
Then I will see a different sight
But this is enough for me right now
All quiet on the western front
All is still and quiet now: stillness rules
Yes stillness rules until daylight comes!
Then it all starts once again
Life goes on no matter what!
