Twin sisters

My mother's sister was one of twins
Two little girls born a bit too soon
One survived: one died that very day
My poor grandma was so distressed
Couldn't understand how she'd been so blessed
Then it was taken away: all in one short day!
She always tried to make up for it
Tried to compensate for that loss
Trying to do what ever she really could
For that poor little girl: her poor daughter
But she was never appreciated: never thanked
That girl didn't care to be reminded of her loss
The other children suffered: complained
"She never does that for me you know!"
You have to look at it from my grandma's point of view
She lost one baby: couldn't bear it if it was two
The other two were fine: didn't need the extra care
She was still lost in her own despair: lost at sea
Never ever would she feel good about that loss!
It would always be there in her mother's heart!
Nothing would ever fill that empty void: nothing!
