Whipping boy

I read somewhere about the rich: many long years ago
Having a whipping boy to take the stripes for the rich son
So if the rich man's son was bad: guess who took the blame?
The whipping boy was whipped to the other's shame!
This sounds so terrible I know: sounds so very unfair but
What about all of us? Haven't we done exactly the same?
Isn't Jesus our whipping boy? Didn't he take all our sins?
Upon His poor aching back? Didn't Jesus carry them for us?
Didn't our dear one take the blame for all our sins?
Didn't He: our dearest saviour take our stripes: our pain?
So that we could be excused the blame? Yes!
Poor Jesus was our whipping boy! For us he paid the price!
For us he took upon His soul our very darkest sins!
That we should be saved of all that terrible pain!

Think about poor Jesus; He takes our place still!
For every sin we commit today: He takes our punishment still!
Yes! Every little sin we do: He cops the whip for us
Just like He did all those many years ago!
Yes! Just like He did on Calvary: just like He did back then!
